Huzzah, BYU!

Eric and I live in the heart of the major BYU student neighborhood. I won't give out our address or anything, but we live only a few blocks from campus, and I would venture to guess that at least 80% of the residents of our apartment complex are BYU students. Sometimes it's kind of annoying, like when school starts back again. Or when large groups of loud single people go walking by our open window at night. Or when a home football game is going on and we can't leave the neighborhood or get back in it.

But tonight - Tonight was a different story. Eric and I watched the BYU vs. OU game at his parents' house, and on the way home, we saw literally hundreds of students milling around University Avenue, standing on corners and cheering. Cars were honking, and the mood was overall joyous and entertaining. Mixed with a fair amount of shock.

We're not students any more, which is why I think I'm generally annoyed living where I live. I feel rather out of place. But tonight I was happy to fit right in with a bunch of rowdy BYU fans who didn't know what to do with themselves.

It is fun to see the students having fun - as long as they're not being stupid and really obnoxious. At least your area probably (at least should have) has less drinking of alcohol than at other universities.

In the summer, our neighbors complain about the noise from the nearby swimming pool. I love hearing the children's squeals and the springy "boing" of the diving boards.

All too soon children - and college students - have to grow up and lose their joyous freedom.

Not like the Ou vs Texas at the fair each here in Dallas. Well all loved the game.

I heard about the wild rumpus going on in the streets of your town! My student-son caught some of it on video. Nothing like that electric feeling of a good win in college sports. FUN!

Because only single people can be loud while walking around outside...

Then again, married people are usually in bed.

I walked out from the Provo temple right as some people were driving by screaming. I knew we had won the game at that point :)
